Velocity gradient, abbreviated as $$\nu$$ (Greek symbol nu), is how the velocity of a fluid changes between parallel planes or different points within the fluid.

$$\large{ \nu = \frac { v } { l } \large }$$

Where:

$$\large{ \nu }$$   (Greek symbol nu) = velocity gradient

$$\large{ l }$$ = distance

$$\large{ v }$$ = velocity
