Speed is the rate of change or distance with time.  Speed is a scalar quantity having no direction.  Speed is not velocity, they do not mean the same thing.

### Speed formula

$$\large{ s = \frac { d } { t } }$$

Where:

$$\large{ s }$$ = speed

$$\large{ d }$$ = distance

$$\large{ t }$$ = time
