# Stopping Distance

When a vehicle is moving at a certain velocity then has to come to a complete stop, the distance from applying the brakes to complete stop is the stopping distance.

### Stopping Distance formula

$$\large{ d = \frac { v^2 } { 2 \mu g } }$$

Where:

$$\large{ d }$$ = stopping distance

$$\large{ v }$$ = velocity

$$\large{ \mu }$$ = friction coefficient

$$\large{ g }$$ = gravitational acceleration
