# Capacitance

Capacitance, abbreviated as C or CAP, is the ability to hold an electric charge.

### Capacitance Formula

$$\large{ C = \frac{Q}{V} }$$

Where:

$$\large{ C }$$ = capacitance

$$\large{ Q }$$ = electrical charge that is stored on the capacitor

$$\large{ V }$$ = potential difference (the voltage between the capacitor's plates)

Solve for:

$$\large{ Q = C \; V }$$

$$\large{ V = \frac{ Q }{ C } }$$
