# Total Displacement

In engine design, the total displacement is the amount of volume displaced by engine cylinders.  It is measured in cubic inches, cubic cylinders or liters.

 $$\large{ DISP = NOC \; \frac{\large{\pi}}{2} \; BORE^2 \; STROKE }$$ Where: $$\large{ DISP }$$ = total displacement $$\large{ BORE }$$ = cylinder bore size $$\large{ NOC }$$ = number of cylinders $$\large{ STROKE }$$ = piston stroke length
