Head Velocity

velocity headHead velocity is when the liquid is allowed to flow from the tank while additional liquid is being added.  The movement of the liquid through the pipe is converted to kinetic energy that is called head velocity.


Formulas that use Head Velocity

\(\large{ \Delta h = \frac{v^2}{2 \; g}  }\)   


\(\large{ \Delta h  }\) = head loss of flowing fluid

\(\large{ g }\) = gravitational acceleration  (32.2 feet per second/per second)

\(\large{ v  }\) = velocity of fluid
