Convection

Written by Jerry Ratzlaff on . Posted in Thermodynamics

Convection, abbreviated as CONVN, is the transfer of heat by air, water, or any other substance that passes over an object, the surface having a higher temperature than the one passing over it.

Convection formula

\(Q =   h \; A \; \left(  T_h \;-\; T_c  \right)   \)

Where:

\(Q\) = heat transfer

\(h\) = heat transfer coefficient

\(A\) = cross sectional area

\(T_h\) = higher temperature

\(T_c\) = cooler temperature
